WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Robin Williams Hanged Himself With a Belt, Cuts Found Inside of His Left Wrist

Robin Williams hanged himself with a belt in his home while his wife was sleeping in another room. He also
had a number of cuts to his wrist, the Marin County Sheriff's office revealed today.
Lt. Keith Boyd held a press conference this morning to reveal the graphic and heartbreaking details surrounding
the beloved actor's suicide death.
The 63-year-old was found in a seated position, with one end of a belt around his neck and the other end
wedged between the door and the door fame. He was slightly suspended above the ground and rigor mortis
had set in by the time his assistant discovered him in a room of his California home at 11.55 a.m. PST
yesterday.
It was also revealed today that several superficial cuts were made to the actor's left wrist and a bloody
pocket knife was found nearby.
Around 10:30 p.m. the night before, his wife, Susan Schneider, had gone to bed and Robin had retreated to a
different room. Twelve hours later, she left to run errands. His personal assistant arrived around 11:45 a.m.
and became worried after Robin didn’t answer. She entered the room and found his lifeless body.
Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after and pronounced him dead at 12:02 p.m. An official time of
death has not been determined, but officials say he died between 10:30 p.m. Sunday night and noon the next
day.
Preliminary conclusions say the cause of death was suicide by asphyxia due to hanging. The toxicology report
will not be available for 2-6 weeks.
The beloved Hollywood icon, who had been battling severe depression, leaves behind his wife and three
children.
