A fatal motor accident along ilasa road

Indeed, it is a black day in Eksu as we lose two of our students to a fatal accident along ilasa Road while some  are seriously injured.  they were said to have went to a party at properous .May there soul rest in peace.

What do women want (in bed)?

Lagos - Dorothy Black looks at new work being done in
female sexuality and comes back with the answer: it’s a lot
wilder than you’ve ever imagined.
Can you imagine a world where a woman’s sexuality was
deemed predatory, aggressive and voracious? Where she
hunted for mates who could satisfy her physically, instead
of coyly waiting for romantic gestures from a chivalrous
gentleman? Where she favoured sex with many different
men instead of being locked down and physically
committed to one?
However that makes you feel, you should know that
studies into female sexuality are starting to paint this
picture.
Turns out, the story that’s been packaged and sold to us
about our bodies, desires and sex drive – as fact – might
have been a more than just a little bit influenced by that
creepy old man in the corner called patriarchy.
This is nothing new to subcultures that still venerate and
nurture female sexual energy as a force to be reckoned
with. My first experience of this was with Shakti Malan, a
now world-renowned tantrika who runs workshops
showing women how to tap into their desire and ‘drop into’
their own bodies.
If you’re wondering what other bodies we’ve collectively
dropped into, just open any women’s glossy and take a
look at what your sexual power is being sold to you as:
demure, made-up, withholding, brittle with frailty and in
stasis, waiting to satisfy The One. Your desire is
constructed in perfume ads and bounced about in music
videos as a means to a man’s end.
So, do you know what your desire looks and feels like
without all of this? Well move back to that first paragraph
and you’ll have an idea about where new – unbiased,
women-focused – research thinks we’re at.
In What Do Women Want?: Adventures in the Science of
Female Desire, author Daniel Bergner (yes, the irony is not
lost on me) delves into work being done in the field of
women’s sexuality and, in particular, the area of lust – what
turns us on and how we get turned on.
In effect, What Do Women Want challenges the tired
tropes that have been constructed around women’s
sexuality, not only by gender-biased social mores, but by
the largely male-dominated science fraternity.
Some top eye-ballers include what monogamy actually
does to women’s libidos (kill it), the narcissism inherent in
being turned on by being desired (the sexiness of being
‘objectified’), that the female of the species is a sexual
aggressor (not a passive bystander) and how much more
visual we are than men.
This last one is illustrated by, what is for me, one of the
most telling studies that prove just how ‘out of’ of our
bodies we tend to be – how disconnected we as women
are from what we find desirable to what we think we
should find desirable.
Berger kicks his book off with a study conducted by Dr
Meredith Chivers, a leading scientist in the field of female
sexuality. In one experiment Chivers gets a group of men
and women – straight, bi and lesbian – to watch a variety of
porn, from hetero stuff to lesbian and gay porn and even
clips of bonobos (a type of chimp) having sex.
The women were fitted with a plethysmograph, a little
plastic probe that’s inserted into the vagina and measures
genital blood flow and gives an objective indication of the
body’s response to sexual images. But the women were
also given a keyboard to rate how aroused they believe
they felt.
While the men were largely turned on by their particular
preferences (straights got turned on my straight porn,
gays were turned on my gay porn) and their physical and
cognitive responses matched, women had a far greater
range. Even if they didn’t admit to it.
Apart from the image of a single, handsome man walking
along a beach (sorry Men's Health), the women responded
with arousal to just about all the sexually explicit material
they watched – even the clip of the bonobos shagging up a
storm.
Writing in a paper for the New York Times about this
process, Berger says of Chivers’ findings: ‘No matter what
their self-proclaimed sexual orientation, [the women]
showed, on the whole, strong and swift genital arousal
when the screen offered men with men, women with
women and women with men.’
But the problem? ‘With the women, especially the straight
women, mind and genitals seemed scarcely to belong to
the same person.’ In other words, while the
plethysmograph recorded deep arousal, the women made
their keyboard marks according to what they deemed
appropriate.
Women haven’t been conditioned to be ‘allowed’ to desire.
Anthropologist Helen Fischer, who has done extensive
research into the human sexual make-up is quoted in What
Do Women Want: ‘Being a human who is sexual, who is
allowed to be sexual, is a freedom accorded by society
much more readily to males than to females.’
Why this is the case is not a matter of biology as we’ve
been led to believe. In fact, if you look at the female sexual
physiology it is practically made for pleasure. Remember
that column about the full extent of the clit and it’s internal
expanse?
In a Q&A Berger conducted for Salon, he says: ‘One of the
scientists, who was really influential in calling attention to
the size, put it this way: the reason we’ve ignored this is
because we’ve managed to convince ourselves that one
gender is all about reproduction and the other is all about
sex. That is, women are all about reproduction and men
are all about sex. Again, a complete distortion.’
There’s a lot to take in and I suggest reading through the
Salon Q&A with Berger as a handy overview of the work
currently being done.
But I’ll leave you with this from the piece, since it so deftly
sums up where the new picture of our sexual power is
headed: ‘Women’s desire – its inherent range and innate
power – is an underestimated and constrained force, even
in our times, when all can seem so sexually inundated, so
far beyond restriction,’ Berger writes. ‘Despite the notions
our culture continues to imbue, this force is not, for the
most part, sparked or sustained by emotional intimacy and
safety.’
Rather, ‘one of our most comforting assumptions,
soothing perhaps above all to men but clung to by both
sexes, that female eros is much better made for
monogamy than the male libido, is scarcely more than a
fairy tale.’
The question, I guess I’m asking you to ask yourself, is this:
How do you really feel about your sexuality, your desire
and your attractions? And how much of that is you owning
your space or buying into society’s fairy tale?

Sad End: Teenager Electrocuted By Charging Cell Phone Dies

The young boy was reportedly listening to music while charging the
phone
A 15-year-old boy in Ekiti has died after being electrocuted while
listening to music on his phone.
Junior Abia plugged in his phone to charge at about 2pm on August 8
and at the same time stuck in his earpiece while at home with his
older brother, Chibuzor.
A jolt of electricity then surged through him and all his brother’s
attempts to remove the earpiece were in vain.
Chibuzor eventually called in neighbours to help and Junior was taken
to a hospital but it was too late.
The mother of the deceased victim told reporters that her son
wouldn’t have died if there was an adult around.

50 Cent has unveiled another message aimed at Floyd Mayweather on
Instagram, this time one that mentions a potential fight while
mocking the boxer's ability to write.
The post is an image of a poorly written love letter. The letter is
addressed to Tiny, T.I.'s wife, and features shaky handwriting and
misspelled words. It says it was written by Floyd "Mony" [sic]
Mayweather."
The caption for the image is as follows:
"@floydmayweather I love you like a brother. Call fanny, and tawana
your sister's love your crazy ass.check on Devon you are forgetting
the people who matter boy. If you want to fight I'll be in Vegas next

Scientist Invents Robot To Fight Ebola

The machines use advanced disinfection technology to kill germs
Scientists have scored a breakthrough in the fight against the Ebola
virus through the creation of “germ-killing robots”.
Two of the robots have been sent from the US to the JFK Hospital
and ELWA Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia which is one of the worst hit
countries.
The robots, called TRU-D SmartUVC, were invented using advanced
disinfection technology to enable them effectively disinfect health
environments where Ebola patients have been/are being treated.
They work using ultraviolet rays which inhibit the growth and
reproduction processes of viruses by modifying their DNA structure.
The inventor, tropical disease expert and medical anthropologist Dr.
Jeffery L. Deal said:
“It works by generating ultraviolet light energy that modifies the
DNA of viral pathogens, like Ebola, so that they cannot reproduce.
Viruses that cannot reproduce cannot colonize and harm patients,”
The robots do not cure Ebola but they serve to ensure better
protection for health workers who are at severe risk of contracting
the disease from patients they treat.
Ebola has killed more than 1400 people since it broke out in March
2014.

Lesbians have more orgasms

When it comes to achieving orgasms during sex with a
regular partner, straight women still lag behind men and
lesbian women, a new study suggests.
Using surveys of single people, the Kinsey Institute
research suggests that men, straight or gay, climax about
85 percent of the time during sex, while lesbians do so
about 75 percent of the time. Straight females placed third,
achieving orgasm during about 63 percent of sexual
encounters.
Why the discrepancies? Basic anatomy and gaps in
communication between partners may be key, the study
authors said.
"We need to take seriously the wide variety of factors that
may influence sexual outcomes, including orgasm, in
individuals and couples," said study lead author Justin
Garcia, an assistant professor of gender studies at the
Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and
Reproduction at Indiana University, in Bloomington.
The findings aren't definitive, he stressed, because they're
based only on people's recollections about recent sexual
encounters with familiar sex partners.
Still, the study does offer new insight into sexuality, Garcia
believes. "In their 1966 treatise, Masters & Johnson
suggested that lesbian women have more orgasms than
heterosexual women," he said. "Yet there have not been
many studies that have taken a careful look at orgasm
outcomes across sexual orientation categories. We
attempt to fill this knowledge gap."
To do so, the new study analysed the results of an
Internet-based survey of 2,850 single American adults age
21 or older, almost 1,500 men and 1,350 women. The
survey had higher numbers of gays and bisexuals than the
American population because the researchers wanted to
fully represent their experiences.
All the participants reported having sex with someone else
over the past year, and each answered a question about
the percentage of the time that they had an orgasm during
sex with a familiar partner over the past 12 months.
Does the answer lie in oral sex?
The difference in orgasm rates between straight and
lesbian women was significant, and the reasons why aren't
clear. Study co-author Elisabeth Lloyd, chair of history and
philosophy of science at Indiana University, said it may
have something to do with the fact that penetrative
intercourse is a more crucial part of sex for straight
women than for lesbians.
The anatomy of women, especially the difference between
the clitoris and the urinary opening, is crucial to the
likelihood that a woman will have an orgasm through
intercourse, she said.
Still, better communication between heterosexual partners
couldn't hurt, the researchers added.
"The most successful means of increasing satisfaction has
always been increased communication and attentiveness
to the partner's responsiveness," Lloyd said. In other
words, talk and pay attention.
Garcia agreed. He said partners of all types can help
women reach orgasm by paying attention to "both spoken
and unspoken communication."
"Some individuals may say what they want, or be willing to
state what they want if asked by a partner; others may
communicate with body language," Garcia said. "And for
others it may take getting to know each other, both in and
out of the bedroom, to understand what allows them to
experience positive sexual outcomes."
And does all this mean that lesbians are more sexually
satisfied than straight women? Not necessarily, the
researchers sad.
"Satisfaction is different from orgasm. Many women can
be sexually satisfied without orgasm," Lloyd said. "We can't
infer that there are legions of unsatisfied heterosexual
women because of this study. We'd have to ask them."

You can't fool your partner in the bedroom

"Was it good for you, too?" can be such a loaded question.
Now a new study says you can't fool your sex partner by
faking satisfaction.
The study also found that women and men are equally
able to determine their partners' levels of sexual
satisfaction.
The Canadian study included 84 couples whose members
were individually asked about their levels of sexual
satisfaction, sexual communication, ability to recognise
emotions and relationship satisfaction.
"We found that, on average, both men and women have
fairly accurate and unbiased perceptions of their partners'
sexual satisfaction," lead author Erin Fallis, of the
University of Waterloo, said in a university news release.
"We also found that having good communication about
sexual issues helped participants to understand their
partners' sexual satisfaction," she said. "However, even if
sexual communication was lacking, a person could still be
fairly accurate in gauging his or her partner's sexual
satisfaction if he or she was able to read emotions well."
Developing sexual routines
The study was published in the journal Archives of Sexual
Behaviour.
The researchers explained that couples develop a "sexual
script", which guides their sexual activity.
"Over time, a couple will develop sexual routines," Fallis
said. "We believe that having the ability to accurately gauge
each other's sexual satisfaction will help partners to
develop sexual scripts that they both enjoy. Specifically,
being able to tell if their partners are sexually satisfied will
help people decide whether to stick with a current routine
or try something new."
The study results challenge a common belief that women
and men have trouble with communicating and
understanding each other, according to the investigators.
"The next step in this research is to look at the impacts of
having more or less accurate perceptions of one's
partner's sexual satisfaction over time in long-term
relationships," Fallis said.
"We expect that having a more accurate understanding of
one's partner's sexual satisfaction will have positive
impacts for both partners' sexual satisfaction and we're
eager to test this idea," she added.

Ebola cases drop from 14 to 13

Abuja - Nigeria on Monday revised down the number of
confirmed Ebola cases in the country to 13, including five
deaths, blaming the reporting of a 14th case on a false
positive.
Health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said there were three
people currently being treated at a special isolation unit
but that one was "for imminent discharge after necessary
protocols".
All five deaths from Ebola and confirmed cases have
occurred in the country's financial capital, Lagos, from a
single chain of transmission.
They include the first case - Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-
American who died at a private hospital on July 25 -- and
three medical workers who treated him.
An official from the West African regional bloc ECOWAS,
who picked up Sawyer up from Lagos airport and took him
directly to hospital, also died.
Chukwu announced on Friday that the husband and wife of
two medical workers who died were also confirmed as
having Ebola -- the first cases of secondary contact in
Nigeria.
Five people who caught the deadly virus, which has killed
1,427 since the start of the year, mostly in Guinea, Sierra
Leone and Liberia, were treated and discharged, he added

Boko Haram claims it is Islamic Caliphate

Maiduguri - Boko Haram said it controls the northeastern
city of Gwoza and has added it to an Islamic state that it
claims it has established in the country.
Gwoza, in Borno state, is now part of its "Islamic
Caliphate" asserted Boko Haram's leader, Abubakar
Shekau, in a video seen on Sunday.
"We are grateful to god for the big victory he granted our
members in Gwoza and made the town part of our Islamic
Caliphate," Shekau said in the video.
But Nigeria's army said on Twitter: "That claim is empty ...
the Nigerian state is still intact."
President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of
emergency in three northeastern states in May last year,
saying the militants had taken over parts of Borno state,
Boko Haram's birthplace.
After the emergency was imposed, the military seemed to
be gaining control of parts of the northeast, killing
militants and sending them fleeing into neighboring states.
But Boko Haram's violent attacks have increased, killing
thousands this year.
A Nigerian military official, who insisted on anonymity
because he is not authorized to speak to the press, on
Monday confirmed that soldiers fighting Boko Haram in
the town of Gamboru Ngala, on the border with
Cameroon, were forced to flee into Cameroonian
territory.
"The fight in Gamboru-Ngala is still ongoing; and our men
are living up to their bid; that is all I can say for now," said
the official. He couldn't give more details on the clash.
More than 4,000 people — mostly civilians — have been
killed this year alone in the conflict, including in attacks by
Boko Haram and in responses by the security forces,
Amnesty International said on Aug. 5. This compares to an
estimated 3,600 people killed in the first four years of the
Islamic extremist insurgency.
Nigeria's fight against Boko Haram began in 2009 but took
the international spotlight in mid-April when the militants
kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls, who still remain
captive.

shooting at an awards show party at a Los Angeles
nightclub hosted by singer Chris Brown, it has been
reported.

Witnesses said 25-year-old singer, who is still on parole
following his recent release from jail, had been the
target of shots fired at the 1oak club in West
Hollywood.
Brown was thought to be unhurt, but three other
victims – among them Death Row Records founder
Knight, 49, were taken to the city’s Cedars Sinai
hospital where one of them was said to be in a critical
condition.

5-Year-Old Girl Demands Gun From Police To Shoot Man Who R@ped Her

Policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation
Department (SCID), Yaba, in Lagos, were stunned on
Friday when a five-year-old girl demanded a gun from
them so that she would kill the man who defiled her.
The suspect, identified simply as Okafor, 22, was said to
have called Chimuanya and took her into an
uncompleted building at Dansa area of Badagry and
forcefully r@ped her.
Leadershipinvestigation revealed that the minor was
with her mother who was a trader when Okafor told
her to come.
A police source at the SCID disclosed that the suspect
took the girl to the building and dragged her when she
did not like what he wanted to do with her.
The suspect allegedly dragged her on the floor which
left her with bruises.
When the suspect was arrested by the SCID, the girl
asked a policewomen to give her a gun so that she
would shoot the suspect dead because he is not worthy
to live among human beings.
A police inspector disclosed that if the child were given
a gun, she would have shot the suspect dead because
she meant what she said. He said the girl bled so much
and her parents had to ask her what happened and she
opened up.

"My Mother-In-Law Is Proud Of Me, She Got Me A N*ked Modelling Job " -- Bad Girl, Maheeda

Maheeda is in the news again. This time around she is
defending why there’s no big deal in going n*ked, how
her in-laws have accepted her, and how her mother in-
law going as fas as getting her a n*ked modelling job.
But the most interesting part in all of this is that, her
husband does not want his pictures splashed on the
internet and warns her whenever she does that.
Her husband’s reaction when she puts up his picture
online;
My husband doesn’t want to be in the limelight, he is a
private person. Sometimes, I try to put his pictures, his
reaction is don’t do that, I don’t want it.
Then about her mother in-law getting her a n*kd
modelling job, Maheeda says;
They are not bothered. In Holland, when it comes to TV
commercials people almost go completely n*ked, so ,
me wearing pants, G-strings and all to them, have not
even started because it is normal for them.
Recently, my husband’s mother got me a modelling job
and I’ll have to pose nude, she said you have to be
n*ked and I am like of course.

Thousands flee to Cameroon after Boko Haram attack

Kano - A Boko Haram attack on a border town in northeast
Nigeria forced thousands of people to flee on Monday, in
a fresh assault indicating the militants' growing ability to
strike at will.
The attack on Gamboru Ngala comes after the town was
almost entirely destroyed in May in a devastating assault
that also left more than 300 people killed and prompted
outrage at the lack of military response.
Many local residents sought refuge across the border in
the north Cameroon town of Fotokol, where troop
reinforcements were being sent, a security service source
told AFP.
Boko Haram, which has been blamed for more than 10 000
deaths in a five-year-old uprising, has in recent weeks
sought to take over a number of towns in Borno state,
shifting from hit-and-run tactics to an apparent holding
strategy.
The group's leader, Abubakar Shekau, declared in a video
obtained by AFP on Sunday that the town of Gwoza,
southwest of Gamboru Ngala, was now under an Islamic
caliphate.
Residents said Monday's attack began at about 5:30 am
(0430 GMT), with the extremists launching coordinated
strikes on the main police station and a military base
known as the Harmony camp.
"The sounds (of gunfire) became more deafening as
police and soldiers responded to Boko Haram," said
witness Hamisu Lawan. "Most of our people have fled into
Cameroon."
Others locked themselves in their homes, voicing fears
that the militants would turn their guns on civilians once
they had overrun the police station and military camp.
Residents in Fotokol, which is separated from Gamboru
Ngala by a river, also reported "intense" fighting
throughout the morning.
"(Cameroonian) soldiers are at the bridge," one said.
Cameroon said on August 18 that it had closed its vast
border with Nigeria to guard against the spread of Ebola,
which has caused five deaths in the country's financial
capital, Lagos, in the far southwest.
But few believed that Cameroon had the resources needed
to seal all the possible crossing points along the roughly 1
600-kilometre (1 000-mile) frontier.
Territorial ambitions
Local officials and residents in Borno say Boko Haram may
be in control of a key road that connects Gamboru Ngala
to the state capital Maiduguri.
Establishing which parts of the area have in fact fallen into
rebels hands is difficult in the remote region, where travel
is dangerous and prolonged fighting has hit mobile phone
networks.
In Sunday's video, Shekau did not develop his claims about
Gwoza being part of the Islamic caliphate, despite
previously voicing his support for the leader of the Islamic
State (IS) militants, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who proclaimed
himself the "leader of Muslims everywhere" in June.
Al-Baghdadi's Sunni Muslim fighters have taken over parts
of Iraq and Syria.
Nigeria's military dismissed Shekau's claim as "empty",
maintaining that the country's sovereignty remained intact.
But that assertion is in conflict with multiple reports
indicating that Boko Haram controls several towns in
Borno and at least one in neighbouring Yobe state.
Analysts believe that Boko Haram will attempt to hold more
towns in Borno in the short to mid-term, with Nigeria's
military unable or unwilling to tackle them.
Some Nigerian troops stationed in the Borno state capital,
Maiduguri, have refused to deploy to retake Gwoza
because of what they say are sub-standard weapons that
leave them at the mercy of the better-equipped rebels.
Defence analysts have also argued that Nigeria needs to
improve its counter-insurgency strategy and adapt to
guerrilla fighting rather than relying on conventional
means.
Others complain of a lack of political will to properly tackle
Boko Haram, which wants to establish a hardline Islamic
state and whose campaign has targeted schools, churches
and government installations.

Popular Pastor Tunde Healed Ebola Patient In Lagos Through Prayer [MUST READ]

According to our source who share the message received from
Pastor Tunde Awayinoluwa on his encounter with a Doctor
who contracted Ebola:
There is no sickness that is beyond the healing power of God
Almighty. The power of God is awesome, there's a God in
heaven that rules over the affairs of men. One of the doctors
that attended to Patrick Sawyer tested positive to the deadly
Ebola Virus Disease. The doctors's phone number was given to
me as he was in the isolation center.
I called him, his voice was down because he was weak from
stooling, vomiting, headaches and terrible pains on his
ankles.I told him there is a name that is stronger than Ebola
and that name is JESUS CHRIST! I told him to get a cup of
water, I prayed on it converting it to the BLOOD OF JESUS
CHRIST and I told him to drink the water.
The next day I called him to speak with him but he did not
pick his calls. After a few minutes I called him again, he picked
and told me he went to take his bath and I asked him 'Did any
body help you?' he said 'No';I blessed the name of the Lord
because that is the process of healing.
I continued calling him and praying with him everyday, and
he kept on telling me he is getting stronger everyday.
Gradually the symptoms of the Ebola disease began to
disappear, he started eating without vomiting. On the 14th of
August, they did another test on him, when the result came out
he was free of the Ebola Virus disease and so he was
discharged on the 18th of August.
Unbelievable!

Second US man stricken with flesh-eating bacteria

Lagos - A flesh-eating bacterial disease has infected
another Washington, D.C.-area man, local media reported
on Thursday, just days after a man was released from a
hospital following a near-deadly bout with the germ.
Joe Wood of Stafford, Virginia, said he was swimming in
the Potomac River near the town of Callao earlier this
month when a scratch on his left leg became infected with
vibrio vulnificus, an aggressive bacteria that feeds on
flesh, Washington D.C.'s WTOP radio reported.
Wood was admitted to the Mary Washington Hospital in
Fredericksburg on July 5 where an infectious disease
specialist performed skin graft surgery on Tuesday, the
report said. Doctors told the radio station that Wood
would likely survive.
The report could not be immediately confirmed as the
hospital did not return repeated calls by a Reuters reporter
on Thursday.
The news comes just days after a 66-year-old Maryland
man was released from a hospital after nearly losing a leg
and his life to the flesh-eating bacterial infection that he
contracted in Chesapeake Bay earlier in the month.
The bacterial strain causes severe illness characterized by
fever and chills, septic shock and lesions. Symptoms
include vomiting and diarrhea.
Vibrio cases are on the rise in the region. In a 2009 study,
the Chesapeake Bay Foundation found that the increase in
infections was linked to pollution and unusually hot
summers
In Maryland, the number of all vibrio cases, including the
strain that afflicted the two men, reached 57 last year, a
10-year high, according to the Maryland Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene.
Virginia had eight vibrio vulnificus cases last year,
according to the Virginia Department of Health. There have
been 27 cases involving vibrio species overall so far this
year.
Nationwide, there are as many as 95 cases of vibrio
vulnificus infections each year, 35 of which result in death,
according to CDC statistics.

Japan ready to offer trial Ebola drug

Tokyo -Tokyo stands ready to offer an experimental drug
developed by a Japanese company to help stem the global
tide of the deadly Ebola virus, the top government
spokesman said Monday.
"Our country is prepared to provide the yet-to-be approved
drug in cooperation with the manufacturer if the WHO
requests," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been discussing
the use of unapproved drugs as a way of getting a handle
on an outbreak in Africa that has already cost more than
1,400 lives, with thousands more people infected.
There is currently no available cure or vaccine for Ebola,
and the WHO has declared the latest outbreak a global
public health emergency.
Several drugs are under development.
The use of an experimental drug called ZMapp on two
Americans and a Spanish priest infected with the virus
while working in Africa has opened up an intense ethical
debate.
The drug, which is in very short supply, has reportedly
shown promising results in the two Americans, although
the priest died.
US company Mapp Bioparmaceutical which makes the drug
said this month it had sent all its available supplies to west
Africa.
The WHO earlier said a panel of medical experts had
determined it is "ethical" to provide experimental
treatments.
Suga said Monday: "Even before the WHO reaches a
conclusion, we are ready to respond to individual requests
(from medical workers) under certain conditions if it is an
urgent case."
The medication Suga was referring to is Avigan, a drug in
tablet form that was approved as an anti-influenza drug in
Japan in March and is currently in clinical tests in the United
States.
Its developer Fujifilm Holdings said it had received
inquiries from abroad but declined to say how many and
from which countries.
The company, which has diversified into healthcare fields,
has "no problem" over the amount of stockpiles,
according to spokesman Takao Aoki.
"We have sufficient supplies for more than 20,000 people,"
he said.

Boko Haram: Seized town part of Islamic caliphate

Kano - Boko Haram's leader said Gwoza which was seized
by the insurgents earlier this month has been placed under
an Islamic caliphate, in a video obtained by AFP on Sunday.
"Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in
[the town of] Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic
caliphate," Abubakar Shekau said in the 52-minute video.
In a July video, Shekau voiced support for the leader of the
Islamic State (IS) militants Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who in late
June declared himself "the caliph" and "leader of Muslims
everywhere".
But there was no indication from Shekau in the latest video
that he was associating himself with Baghdadi, whose
Sunni Muslim fighters have taken over parts of Iraq and
Syria.
As such, it was not clear if Shekau was declaring himself to
be a part of Baghdadi's call or if he was referring to a
separate Nigerian caliphate.
In the 19th century, a Sokoto caliphate was proclaimed
across most of modern-day northern Nigeria and was
considered separate from other Islamic kingdoms, such as
the Ottoman Empire.
Shekau - who has been designated a global terrorist by the
United States and sanctioned by the UN Security Council - is
shown in the video wearing military fatigues, with a
Kalashnikov rifle strapped to his body.
He alternates between Arabic and the Hausa language that
is dominant in the region.
He is pictured standing in front of three SUVs and flanked
by four fighters, who are masked and armed. It is not clear
when or where the video was filmed.
'We will not leave'
There was no indication that Shekau was actually in Gwoza
for the filming and his whereabouts remain unknown but
he vowed that his fighters would keep control of the area.
"By the grace of Allah we will not leave the town. We have
come to stay," he said.
The United Nations humanitarian office (OCHA) earlier this
month confirmed reports that Gwoza was under rebel
control.
Boko Haram is also believed to be in control of other
areas near Gwoza in southern Borno, as well as large
swathes of territory in northern Borno and at least one
town in neighbouring Yobe state.
Mapping the precise areas which have fallen into Islamist
hands is nearly impossible.
There are few humanitarian workers on the ground in the
northeast, travel is dangerous and the region, which has
been under a state of emergency since May of last year,
has poor mobile phone coverage.
Experts have described Boko Haram's gains in recent
weeks as unprecedented, saying the group was closer than
ever to achieving its goal of carving out a strict Islamic
state across northern Nigeria.
But many analysts believe the military still has the capacity
to reverse the insurgents' advance.
A major offensive launched when emergency rule was
declared in May last year appeared to put the militants on
the defensive, flushing them out of their strongholds.
But critics say top brass failed to sustain the pressure and
allowed the Islamists to retake some of the areas they had
abandoned.
A lack of adequate weapons for troops sent to fight the
well-armed rebels has hampered the counter-insurgency
and some soldiers this week refused to deploy to Gwoza
without better gear in an apparent mutiny.
Gruesome executions
After Shekau's 25-minute speech, the video shows militant
fighters on pick-up trucks firing rocket-propelled grenades
and other heavily armed insurgents firing weapons as they
walk calmly along the road.
The footage appears to show them taking over a military
base, stealing weapons and hundreds of rounds of
ammunition as well as fuel cans.
In one frame, a fighter stands on top of a tank, waving the
Islamists' black flag.
The end of the video apparently depicts scenes of grisly
executions, similar to those released by IS in recent weeks.
Boko Haram have used similar tactics before, however.
In one scene, about 20 men in civilian clothing are shown
with their hands tied behind their backs and lying by the
roadside before they are shot at close range.
A second shows two men, whom Shekau said disguised
themselves as women to escape the town, beaten to death
with shovels. Two others similarly dressed are shot beside
what appears to be a trench full of bodies.

"We Were Sent To Bomb Lagos Airport; As Well As Densely Populated Lagos Island & Apapa " -- Suspected Boko Haram Bomber

via ThisDAY:
The Boko Haram suspect who was arrested at National Airport
Management Authority (NAMA) annex in Lagos yesterday
[Aug. 18], confessed last night that he was sent along with
other Boko Haram members to Lagos to bomb various parts of
the city.
The physically challenged 22-year-old suspect who was
caught with canisters around his neck, in his confession, told
security operatives that his two other colleagues were assigned
the task of bombing Murtala Mohammed International Airport
(MMIA), as well as the densely populated Lagos Island and
Apapa areas of the megacity.
Security source, who spoke exclusively to THISDAY, said the
suspect (name withheld) had confessed that he alongside
several others were recruited from Niger Republic and were
trained extensively before their deployment. He also said the
plot to bomb Lagos would not be simultaneously done, a clear
deviation from the planned simultaneous attacks last year
March, when the sect tried to bomb various designated places
across the state at the same time.
According to him, the attempt by the physically-challenged
suspect was the first attempt to bomb Lagos after the twin
bomb blasts in Apapa two months ago that claimed no fewer
than five persons including the suicide bomber. A security
official, who spoke to THISDAY on the strict condition of
anonymity, said the attempt would have been successful but
for the inability of the explosives to detonate when they were
supposed to.
He said: “He was caught because when he tried to set off the
explosives, there was a hitch. He ran back to an obscure place
to check it out and fix it. His suspicious movement and the
frustration evident on his face aroused the suspicion of
security operatives attached to NAMA.”
Also speaking, another source from the state security
department said already, investigations had kicked off in full
gear to round up other suspects who were said to have been
deployed to wreak havoc in the state. The suspect was arrested
at the NAMA annex facility, known as CENTREX, about 300
meters from the international terminal of the airport, opposite
the airport cathedral.
THISDAY learnt that the suspect was making frantic phone
calls, and looked frustrated and restless. His mannerism and
slovenly conduct aroused the suspicion of security personnel
who were watching him and subsequently arrested him. He was
taken to the MMIA police station at Beesam junction.
Shortly after his arrest, the police had initially pleaded for
more time to undertake the investigation to confirm the
identity and mission of the suspect. The police also said that
the suspected explosive device found on the suspect would be
examined and confirmed later, adding that it would be hasty to
describe it as an explosive.
A police officer, however, described the device found on the
suspect as locally made explosives.

2000 traffic offenders nabbed in Oyo

Ibadan - Luka Ikpi, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the
Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), said that the
commission arrested 1 950 offenders in the state July for
various traffic offenses.
Ikpi said motorcyclist riders without helmet were the
highest offenders.
He said that the commission would not relent in its efforts
at apprehending traffic offenders.
"During the passing month (July), we arrested 1 950 traffic
offenders. 794 motorcyclists were arrested for riding
without helmets.
"A total of 396 people were arrested for driving without
the use of seat belt,"
“The sector commander also said that 29 people died
from the 21 road accidents in the state,” Ikpi said.
He gave the breakdown of the victims of auto crash as "86
persons made up of 58 men, 20 women and seven children
also sustained different degrees of injury," Ikpi said.
He advised motorists to be mindful of the way and manner
they drive so that to avoid road accidents.

Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh dies from Ebola virus

Yes, unfortunately it's true. Just confirmed from a family
source. Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, the Senior Consultant
Physician and Endocrinologist who was one of the doctors
who attended to Patrick Sawyer at First Consultant Hospital
has died from the Ebola virus which she contracted from
Sawyer.
Dr. Ameyo died this afternoon Tuesday August 19th at the
isolation unit of the Mainland Hospital in Lagos where she'd
been quarantined. She died a hero because she was the
doctor who refused to let Patrick Sawyer, the man who
brought the Ebola virus to Nigeria, leave the First Consultant
Hospital in Obalende, Lagos, when he attempted to leave.
She saved many lives by doing this. Her death is so
heartbreaking.
She's survived by a son and her husband. May her beautiful
soul rest in peace...Amen.

Mayor suspended after taking nude selfies

Geneva - The mayor of the Swiss town of Baden, who is
also a member of parliament, was suspended on Monday
following allegations that he sent nude selfies taken at
work to a woman friend.
Geri Muller, aged 53, who holds a seat for the Greens in
the legislature's lower house, was temporarily relieved of
his mayoral duties in the small town northwest of Zurich
after the Schweiz am Sonntag newspaper reported on
Sunday that he had sent the nude pictures taken on his
cellphone to a female acquaintance.
Muller quickly reacted in a statement by his lawyer, saying
the woman, who was not named, had threatened to go
public about the photos. He said she had also threatened
to commit suicide.
The mayor, who is on the lower house foreign affairs
committee, said he himself had asked the police to
intervene, his lawyer said on Sunday, and that Baden police
had taken the woman in for questioning on Thursday.
The city council statement said Muller was suspended
pending "clarification of the situation" but that he was
presumed innocent while enquiries were underway.

US Won't Provide Experimental Ebola Drug, Zmapp, To Nigeria

The Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu in an
audience with the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James
Entwistle, during a visit in the minister’s office in Abuja
The American Ambassador to Nigeria, James
Entwistle, said on Monday, August 18, his
country was not yet in a position to make the
Ebola Disease experimental drug, Zmapp,
available to Nigeria.
During a visit to the Nigerian Minister of Health, Onyebuchi
Chukwu, Mr. Entwistle said that the drug was not yet
available in sufficient quantity to go round all the
countries requesting it.
According to NAN, the ambassador didn’t say when the
drug would be available for Africa’s most populous
country. He only advised the Nigerian health ministry to
focus on isolation, screening and prevention.
Commenting the efforts of the Federal Government in
curbing the spread of the Ebola virus in the country, Mr.
Entwistle said the aim of the visit was to discuss further on
the anti-Ebola cooperation between the US government
and the Nigerian government.
“Your government is doing a good job on contact tracing;
I noticed when I flew back here on Thursday night into the
country, before I left the plane I filed in the questionnaire.
“I was very impressed because I had to put in my seat
number which is a very good idea, so that if you have to
trace the guy who was seating next to me you will know
where I am,” he said.
Speaking during the visit, the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi
Chukwu, said the Nigerian Government was withholding its
approval for the Anti-Ebola drug Nano-Silver produced by
a Nigerian because it didn’t meet the requirements of the
National Health Research Ethics Code.
However, the Nano Silver drug was made available to the
Emergency Operations Centre in Lagos on August 14.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
Nano-Silver is a pesticide.
He said the ambassador’s visit was an opportunity to
share ideas and information on Ebola virus.

Why Men Sleep After Sex

Since the inception of sexuality, many reasons
have been given why men sleep just
immediately after sex; with ‘they are selfish’
point topping the list of reasons, many need to
know the real reasons why this has been
prominent with men.
Although sex has been referred to as one of the most
enjoyable things between a man and woman, the woman
race has been on the search to know why men nods
straight to sleep after a good sex. With most women
thinking ”dropping” straight into sleep by their men is a
complete negative phenomena, the general notion has
been that men are actually selfish to sleep immediately
not minding how their mates feel about it.
Although men argue that the nature of sleeping
immediately after sex is due to tiredness from its rigors,
Scientists have however found a good argument for men
by confirming that ”men sleep after sex because they just
cannot help it”. In a recent publication by Punch, it has
been ascertained that men sleep after sex because they
have little power over their bodies at that point in time,
hence, not being able to stay awake after the whole rigor
of sex.
Scientists have said that men really do need to sleep after
sex when they climax because their brains become
flooded with sleep-inducing chemicals such as oxytocin,
serotonin and prolactin. Also, the blood rush after the
climax depletes the muscles of energy-producing
glycogen and because men typically have higher muscle
density than women, they become more tired after sex.
A research made it known that after sex, a man’s cerebral
cortex, which is the ‘thinking’ area, shuts down almost
immediately after orgasm, in which two other areas, the
cingulate cortex and amygdale make the rest of the brain
to deactivate from sexual desire. This successive sexual
behavior has however been linked to only humans alone
according to research.
However it has been said that wives can talk to their
partners about how they feel after sex, urging their
husbands to dedicate few minutes for them immediately
after sex, so as to help enhance the sleeping nature of
their husbands after sex. According to a Consultant
Psychologist, Prof. Toba Elegbeleye, said sex takes a lot
of energy to complete and that there is tendency for the
brain and the entire system to want to rest when such
intense energy is exhibited. He also made it known that the
location where the sexual activity takes place also has a
way of affecting the man. In his words: “When you
indulge in sex, which usually takes place at night when
people sleep naturally, it comes with a level of intensity
that involves all your energy and whatever you can
muster to make it have a shaking effect, after which the
multi-nerve ends are relaxed. This makes people sleep
easily.
“It also depends on where you do it. Usually, if it is a legal
encounter, which takes place in your own bedroom where
you are comfortable, you might sleep, which is different
from when you do it in your car or somewhere else under
duress, that is not so comfortable.
“Another factor that could aid sleeping well after sex is
eating good food prior to the act because you may not be
able to do it well if you are hungry and the body
entertains only one urge at a time and hunger is as strong
an urge and a drive as sex is. Other factors could be to
have a pleasant room atmosphere with a good bed and if
there is no thought of threatening financial burden or
security issues in mind.”

Woman steals wine to see jailed boyfriend

Cedar Park - A woman allegedly stole a bottle of $3.99
wine to get arrested and see her jailed boyfriend.
Alicia Walicke was charged with misdemeanour theft and
freed on $5 000 bail on Friday. Jail records did not list an
attorney for the woman.
Police say Walicke stole a bottle of wine from a Texas gas
station on Wednesday. An arrest affidavit says police
found the woman outside the business and drinking the
wine.
The affidavit says she told police that she wanted to see
her boyfriend, who was arrested hours earlier, and told
them she wanted to go to jail.
Police didn't immediately identify the boyfriend or say
whether the woman saw him.
Police didn't immediately return messages on Saturday.

Man with Ebola symptoms quarantined in Spain

Kano - A Nigerian man exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms has
been quarantined in southern Spain, while Kenya has said it
will ban passengers travelling from virus-hit areas in West
Africa starting on Tuesday.
While the World Health Organisation declared the Ebola
outbreak in West Africa an international health emergency
and said it was moving faster than could be controlled, aid
groups have warned that efforts to stem the epidemic
were "dangerously inadequate".
Officials in Alicante, southern Spain, said the man checked
into a hospital with a fever. Doctors determined that he
was suffering from Ebola-like symptoms, and he was
referred to a special isolation clinic for tests
Ebola claimed its first European victim five days ago and
has killed 1 145 people in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and
Sierra Leone, according to WHO.
On Saturday, Kenyan Health Minister James Macharia said
all passengers travelling from Sierra Leone, Liberia and
Guinea would be barred entry to Kenya, after four visitors
from these countries had shown Ebola-like symptoms.
WHO underestimated outbreak
The ban will significantly hamper travel across the
continent as Nairobi airport is a crucial connection for
African air travel.
"WHO has admitted the magnitude of the Ebola outbreak in
West Africa was vastly underestimated and the current
outbreak is expected to continue for some time," Macharia
said.
While WHO had called on the affected countries to
postpone mass gatherings if possible and to screen
outbound air travellers, it did not recommend a general
travel ban to and from West Africa.

WHO also stressed that designating the Ebola epidemic a
"Public Health Emergency of International Concern" does
not mean that it expects the virus to spread around the
globe, but that it wants all countries to be more vigilant.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said that a
female doctor who was infected in Lagos has become the
first person to recover.
The woman - who fell ill after coming into contact with
Liberian-American government official Patrick Sawyer, who
subsequently died from the disease - has been discharged
from hospital, the minister said.
Ebola patients escape from centre
Five others who had been placed under surveillance "have
almost recovered", he said.
Governments across Africa are ramping up measures to
stop the worst-ever outbreak of the disease from
spreading across the continent.
In the Liberian capital Monrovia - one of the worst-hit cities
- 17 Ebola patients escaped from an isolation centre in a
densely populated slum after the government said it would
quarantine the entire community.

The West Point slum, which is home to around 75,000
people, is considered a hotbed for disease, crime and
drugs. Dozens of residents helped the patients to escape
from the unit, while shouting slogans against President
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's Ebola policies.
The current outbreak is caused by the most lethal strain in
the family of Ebola viruses. Ebola causes massive
haemorrhages and has a fatality rate of up to 90%. It is
transmitted through blood and other body fluids.

Boko Haram Alleged Sponsor, Sheriff, In Closed Door Meeting With Jonathan In Aso Rock

The man Femi Fani-Kayode said made him to leave the APC,
as he is the "known creator" of Boko Haram is now in the
same PDP with Fani-Kayode and the man is now President
Goodluck Jonathan's friend.
Ex-Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff came out of a
meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock
presidential villa on Friday, declaring that his decision to join
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in the interest of
Nigeria as a nation.
“The president of Nigeria is president for everybody. He is the
president for the over 170 Million Nigerians and he is the
father of everybody. So, every Nigerian has the right to see
him, on matters that are either of private concern or anything
that affects the nation. So, my coming to visit the president
was purely on personal grounds. Yes, there is this issue that I
might join the PDP, but that was not the discussion that
brought me,” he said.
He also suggested that to end insurgency in Borno State and
contain the activities of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, a
perfect understanding of the terrain and political knowledge
of the state was necessary.
Speaking with state house correspondents after the meeting,
Sheriff claimed he is a strong politician in Borno.
Asked to further on why he was abandoning his party, the
APC, Sheriff said, “Our interest should be on what makes the
nation move forward. My decisions will be guided by the
interests of the nation first. My thinking of moving to the PDP
is also in the interest of the nation. We believe that every
time, as a leader who leads people, you should advise them on
the right course of action.”

She Was Deemed “Too Young” at 24 to Get a Pap Test — and Then She Died From Cervical Cancer Just 4 Months After Her Wedding

At 24, life was near perfect for Dawn Weston. She was young, beautiful, in love
and planning her upcoming wedding with her fiancé, Dan. But the British
beauty’s life changed forever back in December 2012 when she experienced
excruciating back pain.

She did what any normal woman would do: Dawn booked a visit with her
gynecologist to check it out.
The doctor denied her a pap smear (a test given to check if there is cervical
cancer in women) because she was not yet 25, the minimum age to have the
procedure in Britain.
She visited several doctors before insisting on having the test. But it was too
late. The worst was confirmed — she had cervical cancer.
A few months later she underwent treatment, including internal and external
radiotherapy. In September 2013, she was given the all clear, but during a
routine check-up just two months later, the cancer had returned in full force
and in December, she was told it was terminal.

Sadly, Dawn passed away just four months later on May 22, 2014, leaving her
young widower without his true love. But Dan is determined that her death
won't be in vain and is doing everything in his power to lower the minimum
age for testing in the U.K.
“When Dawn began complaining of crippling back pain in 2013, she went to the
doctors, but she was never offered a smear test, because at 24 she was too
young,” he said.
“Before she was diagnosed, she was crying she was in so much pain with her
back. It took weeks before she had a smear test and by then it was too late.”
To learn more and help Dan’s cause, visit Dawn’s Just Giving page, set up by
her mother, Marie Weston.

This Is The Pretty Doctor Who Got Infected With Ebola

The female doctor who treated Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer on his
arrival at the First Consultant Hospital in Obalende has been identified.
Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh , a senior consultant, was one of those who attended
to the infected Sawyer and presented him with a diagnosis of Ebola.
Dr. Adadevoh is said to have gone into a coma today just as a colleague of hers,
Dr. Ladi Okubadejo pleaded with the US government to send her a sample of
the ZMapp drug because she didn't deserve to die.
Two staff members of the hospital who helped treat Mr. Sawyer have already
passed on, bringing the total number of casualties to four (in Nigeria).

Mysterious End: Family Of Five Found Dead In Ogun

Residents of the Temidire Community in Sabo, Abeokuta, were left in shock
when 5 members of the same family were found dead in their home.
The victims, a man, one of his wives and their 3 children, were found lifeless
in a 6 room bungalow in the Ogun state capital.
Some residents suggested that foul play was involved as the deceased man, Aliu
Adeoye died with his second wife, identified as Iya Aliya, but the first wife
survived.
Reports have it that the first wife was suspected and even escaped lynching as it
was claimed that she was always at loggerheads with the deceased.
The unidentified first wife slept ina room in the same home with her children
but they survived.
Neighbours report that a strong chemical odour was coming from the building
and suspect that the family might have succumbed to generator fumes.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said that a
conclusive autopsy would be carried out on the bodies to reveal the true cause
of death.

Abati denies issuing statement on Chibok schoolgirls

Abuja - Presidential Spokesman Reuben Abati on Friday disowned a press
release from his e-mail account earlier which said that President Goodluck
Jonathan had revealed the location of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
Abati in a statement issued in Abuja said that the press release was the
handiwork of fraudsters who hacked into his e-mail account to mislead the
public.
“All media organisations and persons on my mailing list should kindly
disregard the press release.”
“It was purportedly issued by me earlier today tilted, 'President Jonathan
Reveals Location of Chibok Girls and Exposes Boko Haram Masterminds’.”
“No such press release was written or circulated by me.”
“It is clearly the work of fraudsters who have hacked into my e-mail account
in an odious attempt to mislead the public at the expense of the credibility of
the Jonathan administration.”
“We totally condemn this criminal resort to political dirty tricks, which seeks
to cynically play on national concern and emotions about the Boko Haram
insurgency and fate of the abducted Chibok girls.”
“Aspects of the fraudulent press release such as its incoherence and invitation
to click on a link would have alerted discerning persons who are conversant
with the style and format
of my press statements to the possibility of skullduggery.”
“I find it necessary, however, to issue this disclaimer for the benefit of the
unwary,” he said.

the movie in Liberia in August but put it on hold because of
the Ebola virus.

Chad frees Boko captives at border

Maiduguri - Nigeria's Boko Haram militant group kidnapped
100 people earlier this month but most were freed by
security forces from neighbouring Chad, a Nigerian
security official and a local self-defence member said on
Friday.
The abductions took place on 10 Aug in Doron Baga in the
Kukawa area near the border with Chad, said the official,
who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not
authorised to speak to the media.
He said the terrorists were stopped as they crossed the
Chad border by Chadian soldiers who killed most of them
and set free most of the captives.
Muhammed Gava, a member of the anti-Boko Haram
vigilante movement, said 20 females and about 70 young
men had been forced to board speed boats in Lake Chad,
which lies on the border between Nigeria, Chad, Niger and
Cameroon.
Nigeria's fight against the extremist group began in 2009
but hit the international spotlight in mid-April, when the
militants kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls. The girls
have still not been freed.
More than 4 000 people - mostly civilians - have been killed
this year alone by all sides in the conflict, which include
Nigerian security forces, Amnesty International said on 5
Aug. This compares to an estimated 3 600 people killed in
the first four years of the Islamic insurgency.
While the group's attacks are mostly in northeast Nigeria,
Boko Haram has detonated bombs as far away as Lagos,
the commercial capital in Nigeria's southwest.

No Way! Nigeria Medical Association Rejects Doctors' Sack

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has rejected the sack of the nation's 16,000 public
sector doctors which was announced yesterday.
The resident doctors, who have been on strike since July 1, were suspended indefinitely on the
orders of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The President of the NMA, Dr. Kayode Obembe said:
“NMA condemns in totality the alleged presidential directive via the Federal Ministry of Health
suspending Residency Training Programme in Nigeria," Obembe said.
“NMA demands the immediate withdrawal of the suspension circular and unconditional
reinstatement of the so-called sacked resident doctors.
“Government should show commitment on her part in resolving the current impasse with the
NMA rather than resorting to punitive measures that will only further aggravate the already
deplorable situation."
The organization is demanding the immediate reversal of the letter which communicated the sack
and is instructing all doctors to reject any sack letter given to them.
Obembe further said that the strike would continue until the government meets the demands of
the aggrieved doctors.

minutes after learning of the president's directives.
According to the singer GEJ has to seek for a dialogue with the troubled doctors and find a
solution to their problem instead of sacking them while they fight for a better welfare.
This comes as no surprise as this is not the first time the singer is attacking the president over
his decision on securing peace within the nation.
The singer also voiced his distaste towards the anti-gay law » which was agreed by GEJ.

Karlie Hustle Resigns As Hot 97 Music Director

Karlie Hustle has resigned from her position as Music Director at New York radio station Hot 97 .
"I've made the decision to resign my position as Music Director at Hot 97," she posted on Instagram. "I will
remain through the end of the month to assist in the transition of duties. SIDEBAR: No. I am not going to a
New York radio competitor. Thanks to Ebro Darden, I've spent the past three years living my dream in New
York City, working at what I believe to be the most important radio station in the world. I've been empowered
to run the Hot 97 Who's Next Live platform and the Summer Jam Festival Stage. I've appeared on a TV
show and had the chance to guest host on the morning show as a fill-in. I've been a part of launching the
careers of future stars from behind the scenes. These are amazing experiences that I cannot express proper
gratitude for here. These past few years have given me the confidence and the enhanced platform to start my
own business. I will redirect my time and attention fully to my #HustleBowTie endeavor and the overall K.
Hustle brand (buy a tie dammit: karliehustle.com ). I will also be taking time to explore a host of new
possibilities that I've been afforded as the result of the 13 years, six cities and six radio stations it's taken
for me to arrive at this juncture. I'm excited to step out on my own two once again and see what I'm truly
made of. I'll never forget the team at Hot 97 for being so warm and embracing this girl from the West so
fully. Thank you all!"

"Sisterhood Of Hip Hop" Makes Highest Oxygen Network Debut Of 2014

Sisterhood Of Hip Hop is the Oxygen network’s highest-viewed series premiere of 2014, according to TV
by the Numbers .
The program, which follows five up-and-coming female rappers and is executive produced by T.I. , had
811,000 viewers of its debut episode, which aired Tuesday (August 12).
The series’ second episode is slated to feature conflict between Nyemiah Supreme and Diamond ; Siya dealing
with heartbreak; and Brianna examining her mix of business and family.
On the first episode, Diamond and Nyemiah Supreme faced off. In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX
that was published Wednesday (August 13), Diamond says that the scenario was not staged.
“That’s what I think we were excited about, because it was all natural stuff that they had, seeing how we
feel,” Diamond said at the time . “I think that she probably knew who I was but probably was just throwing a
little shade. Like how Brianna [Perry] [would] say, ‘We’ll tease, we might do Rap, we might be rapping, we
might be competitive. Oh, I’m cute today, whatever, whatever.’ Also being a New Yorker. Both my mother
and father were born in New York and I have like six aunties and two uncles or whatever, so she could have
just been on her New York like, ‘Yo!’ That cocky talk. I’m just like, ‘What? What you mean? How old are
you? Do the math.’ But we were still able to truck through that. So yes, it was. It was real.”

Customers Will Start Paying N65 Fee For ATM Withdrawals - CBN

CBN introduces N65 Fee for ATM Withdrawals. From the 1st
of September 2014, bank customers will pay a token for cash
withdrawals made on other banks’ Automated Teller Machines
(ATM).
TheCentral Bank of Nigeria announced this on Wednesday. If
you recall, customers used to pay N100 if they used other
banks’ ATM, but it was cancelled by the CBN and Deposit
Money Banks in December 2012.
Now the current fee is N65, that is N35 less than the former fee.
The Central Bank agreed to re-introduce the charges because
the cost of transaction was becoming too burdensome for the
banks to continue to bear.
Director of Banking and Payment Systems Department of CBN
Dipo Fatokunsaid the first three withdrawals on other banks’
ATM will be free but it would become effective on the fourth
withdrawal in a month.
The statement posted on the official website reads:
“The CBN hereby issues the following directives: The re-
introduction of ‘Remote-on-us’ ATM cash withdrawal
transaction fee, which will now be N65 per transaction, to
cover the remuneration of switches, ATM monitoring and fit-
notes processing by acquiring banks; the new charge shall
apply as from the fourth ‘Remote-on-us’ withdrawal (in a
month) by a cardholder, thereby making the first three ‘Remote
on us’ transaction free for the cardholder, but to the paid by the
issuing bank.
September 1, 2014 shall be the effective date for the
implementation of the new charge; banks are expected to
conduct adequate sensitisation to the customers on the
introduction of the new fee; all ATM cash withdrawals on the
ATM of issuing banks shall be at no cost to the cardholder.”

Babale in Plateau State as they journeyed from Maiduguri to
Abuja in the night.
The motive of the journey was suspicious, according to
defense officials.
This was disclosed in an alert message by the Defense
Headquarters in Abuja.
“Officers of the Special Task Force are currently trying to
unravel the motive for the movement of some youths from
Maiduguri heading to Abuja at about 3am when they were
accosted in Plateau State on Wednesday. 51 youths were
under the guidance of a lady as they were being conveyed in
three 18-seater mass transit buses when they were intercepted
along Babale in Plateau state as they journeyed from
Maiduguri to Abuja in the night,”part of the message read.
It added that during interrogation, the youths claimed they
were being conveyed to Abuja on the directives of a Borno
State Government official to meet their relatives for assistance
in an economic empowerment programme.
The message added that the official is yet to respond to series
of efforts to verify the claims.
“The issue is being investigated to ascertain the genuine
mission of such a team of young person’s moving in the night
more so as they have made contradictory statements as to the
sponsorship of their mission to Abuja. The movement is
being assessed in the light of the security situation and the
suspicious claims of the youths.”

Why wait till 18 for sex, ask teens

While, experts welcome the new rule that pegs consensual sex
at 18 years of age, some teens in the city say that making sex
illegal before 18 is harsh and regressive.
The Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Bill, 2011,
that was cleared on Thursday in the Union Cabinet, says that
sex under the age of 18 —even if consensual — will be
deemed as statutory rape and an offence that will be tried
under the Juvenile Justice Act, carrying a maximum
punishment of three years imprisonment. The bill, though,
has evoked mixed responses. While child rights activists are
calling it regressive, sex experts and counsellors are
welcoming the move. The teens in the city are appalled that
the law makers are not taking note of ground realities.
Teenager Surya Rau, says, "The rule is too harsh. Why should
we wait? No one is going to wait till they turn 18 to have sex.
Puberty hits at the age of 13, what do you want us to do for
five years?"
Naina Kothari, aged 17 too, says, "We are young and want to
experiment now. You can't expect us to wait or give us an
appropriate age limit to have sex. By the time we're 16, we
pretty much have the knowledge we need about the matter.
We also have sex education classes which are adequate."
According to sex and marriage therapist Dr Vinod Chebbi,
"Children as young as 13 indulge in some form of physical
intimacy to satisfy curiosity. For them, sex is for thrills and not
a responsible act," he says and adds, "Adolescents think they
are too young to get pregnant, but old enough to have sex."
However, he says, "Physical intimacy is best entered into at 18
years and above. Fixing the age of consensual sex should
never be based on physical growth. What lawmakers have to
look at is if a young couple is emotionally prepared for the
same. A youngster at 16 is definitely not."
Teenager Shamaila Khan believes that teens will not be
deterred by the new rule, "Nobody cares about the age limit
and no one is going to follow it. But an 18-year-old will be
more mature — emotionally and physically. Parents need to
make their children aware of the consequences of sexual
activities rather than have them face punishment," she says.
The problem, says social worker and child counsellor
Niveditha Kashyap, is that urban children are exposed to
visuals and messages with sexual overtones through TV, the
Net, books and friends. "They're sexually aware and want to
experience physical intimacy at a young age. Making sexual
acts among them punishable can have serious after effects.
One good thing is that those engaging in physical intimacy
with underage youth will be punished," she says.
Experts call for sex education to be imparted to children as
young as 10. "The first step is to teach children the concept of
privacy so that he/she can resist abuse. Also, sex education
should not be confused with lessons on intercourse," says sex
expert Dr Rajan B Bhonsle.

It's good that the age bar has been raised, but no one is going
to follow it unless it is enforced. they won't really understand
what they're doing wrong.
— Manisha Rao
I highly doubt that the age restriction has any effect, illegal or
not, because when people want to do something, they will
eventually do it.
