Dad arrested for taking daughter’s phone as punishment

When Ronald Jackson found a text he thought was rude and inappropriate on his then-12-year-old daughter’s phone in September 2013, he took the cell away. But the child’s mother, Michelle Steppe, got mad at his action and she called the police.

WFAA reported that the 36-year-old, who hails from Grande Prairie, Texas, had been charged with theft of property of at least $50 but under $500 after confiscating his daughter’s iPhone 4 when he found an inappropriate text in September 2013.

Shortly thereafter, Jackson recieved a citation for the “theft,” a Class C misdemeanor. Jackson was then offered a plea deal in January 2014 if he returned the phone, attained legal representation, and requested a jury trial.
That’s when the city attorney’s office refiled the case with a harsher offense, a Class B misdemeanor, punishable to up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
After a warrant was placed on him, Jackson was arrested and taken into custody in April 2015, but managed to post the $1,500 bail to avoid incarceration during his trial.
Eventually, the judge ordered for Jackson to be found not guilty, citing insufficient evidence to continue the case.
Jackson described the ordeal to CBSDFW:
“I was being a parent. You know, a child does something wrong, you teach them what’s right. You tell them what they did wrong and you give them a punishment to show that they shouldn’t be doing that.”
The teen’s mother, Michelle Steppe, told the court on Monday that she called police the day that Jackson took the phone, and that they went to Jackson’s home and asked for the iPhone back, but Jackson refused.
Jackson defended his actions to WFFA:
“At that point, I decided the police don’t interfere with my ability to parent my daughter.”
But Steppe felt she was justified, as she told WFAA:
“You can’t take someone’s property, regardless if you’re a parent or not.”

Jackson reportedly was not a part of his daughter’s life until she was seven years old, but following the incident, he told CBSDFW that he “can’t ever have a relationship with them again.”
He was offered a plea deal in January 2014 if he would return the phone. Instead, Jackson hired an attorney and requested a jury trial.
The case moved to Dallas County and, unbeknownst to Jackson, a warrant was issued for his arrest. The police showed up at his door around 2 a.m. in April 2015, and Jackson was handcuffed and taken to jail.
“It made no sense to me for them to show up and make a big deal out of something that was a small thing,” Jackson said. “I couldn’t believe they would go to this extent for a cellphone. It didn’t seem right.” He posted $1,500 bail and was released after a night in jail.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” John Cook, one of Jackson’s defense attorneys, told KHOU Wednesday. “You would think we were on the Jerry Springer Show.”

After just a two-day trial in which Jackson’s daughter, now 15, testified Dallas County Criminal Court Judge Lisa Green ordered the jury to find Jackson not guilty, citing insufficient evidence to prove a theft charge.
Steppe disagrees with the verdict. “Even if you purchase something with your own money and have a receipt, it’s not yours,” she said. “Someone can take it from you.”
He is now filing a Federal complaint of civil rights violation due to the way he was treated by police and the city attorney’s office. WFAA reports that Michelle Steppe’s fiance is an officer with the Grande Prairie police force.

5 Lagos Fire Fighters Stabbed By Area Boys While Trying To Put Out Fire In Ajegunle & Surulere

Lagos State Fire Service cried out yesterday over the frequent attacks on its men in line of duty, warning those involved to desist or face the law.

We learnt that more than five firemen have been attacked in various parts of the state.

The service director, Rasak Fadipe, said the officers were attacked at Idewu Street, Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle and Odunsi Street in Surulere.

He described the officers as dedicated and hardworking, adding that their motive was to save lives and property.

According to him, the gallant officers responded to distress calls and were about to carry out their statutory duties when the hoodlums who wanted to loot saw them as obstacle and started attacking, stabbing and chasing them from the fire scene.

Fadipe explained that a senior officer was stabbed in the ear with a broken bottle; another was wounded in the head; others were manhandled.

“In order to prevent confrontation and breakdown of law and order, the officials retreated and ran for their lives. The mayhem was reported at Tolu and Itire Police stations and it led to the damage of a fire truck,” he said.

He hailed the Itire Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for intervening and rescuing the officers from further assault.

The fire boss appealed to the public to desist from damaging government facilities as tax payers money were expended on providing the amenities. The consequences of unwarranted but coordinated attacks on fire trucks, he said, were an indirect denial of dividend of democracy to others as the damaged truck cannot serve the need of Lagosians.

These women are fighting over a man

In these days where good men are hard to come by, it is important for women to hold tight to what they have or risk losing it to a rival.

This is exactly what these women exhibited. According to eyewitnesses, the women happened to be dating the same man and they had, at various times, warned each other to stay off the man, to no avail.

On the day of reckoning, one of the women was said to have gone to visit the man very early in the morning and met her rival sprawled on the bed.

Fighting to keep their man

To protect her territory, the woman at home ordered her out and an argument ensued which led to what is called in this clime, 'rofo-rofo' fight. The man was said to have pushed the women out of his house where they continued the battle in the mud to the amazement, and maybe, admiration of onlookers.

How A Cheating Nigerian Husband Tricked Girlfriend Into Marriage & Dumped Her With 2 Kids

Once ladies are above the 20s, most become prey as they would’ve worked and made some cash…

The news of Ope’s scheduled wedding was a much welcomed one. At 31, she’d crossed over the conventional marriage age for young women and gradually hitting the single and searching category. As big aunts, many of us were already curious about her status and never failed to ask about the ‘bobo’ whenever the opportunity provided itself.

So, when we got the text message, inviting us to the Introduction Ceremony, I was elated. Ope’s day of glory was already a bit overdue, so it called for great thanksgiving and I was sure that her mother, a Lagos socialite by every standards will leave no stones unturned to make the ceremonies beautiful.

But the reaction I got when I placed a call to her
to congratulate her and find out details for the wedding took me off guard. It was not the type of reaction I had expected to get from her bubbly mum. At the end of her short speech, my spirit sank too. And though she did not give full details of why the ceremony must be a small and quiet one, I knew it was not for lack of funds, because there was no gain saying that she would make more money from the wedding than she would spend putting up the grand and fabulous show.

Some people are that blessed by the rot (corruption) of the Nigerian society and Ope’s mum is one of them. So, what could the matter be? I was not the only curious one but since we all could not come up with a reasonable excuse for such a decision, we decided that our questions can only be answered after the Introduction ceremony.

And boy, did we get answers?
The Introduction turned out a mini wedding held in their compound. All the wedding rituals including cake cutting, exchange of rings as well as the traditional wedding gifts were performed. Why the hush-hush? That Ope was conspicuously pregnant was not enough reason for this hurried packaging and shooing off like an outcast!

However, a look at the groom and those who accompanied him as family and friends was enough to tell anyone that all was not well. It was a case of ‘na only you waka come?’ as one could count the number of his team on the finger tips and still have a few left.

He neither had a father or mother, nor anyone who could stand in as representative of the family. He only had two guys later identified as his friends. Every time someone from his side of the family needed to talk, it was done by one of his friends accompanied by a group of Ope’s friends. At the end of the ceremony, many of us left feeling disgusted by the show of shame. Why didn’t she just pack into his house? It would have been better than this ke!

Right there, rumours began making rounds, providing answers, correct or fabricated, to the questions on everyone’s lips. The guy was not exactly single but available. Ope would be wife or woman number three. His first wife lives in Ibadan with their two children. But he also had another woman in Abuja who had a child for him while he was working there. He did not marry the woman. He met Ope through a mutual friend and offered her marriage.

Is Ope too old to get a clean and decent guy at 31? I had thought of her as a very intelligent and focused girl. With a good second degree and job, she had good life ahead of her. I never knew she could fall for such a scam. For it was clear to me that this marriage was a scam. These sort of guys are all over the place, scamming young women off their money and robbing them of opportunities to lead decent, respectable and happy lives. Many of these guys present themselves as semi single guys who have had raw deals in the hands of their spouses.

They cook up some spurious stories about their wives and how the women have betrayed them one way or another, or how the women have failed to live up to expectations as wives and mothers. Sometimes, the stories could be about their in-laws and how they have prevented them from living in harmony with their so called estranged wife. And because they live alone and are answerable to no one about their movement, their preys (the new women and victims) fall flat for these stories and begin to see themselves as the right people to fill the gaps in these men’s lives.

I have even heard of stories of how some guys have lured women out of their comfort zones, including marriages, into these traps by making them believe that they have some special gifts that could turn the life of these women around for the better just by being in their company. (sho!)

The more you look, the less you see, they say. In the same vein, the longer you stay in the company of these men, the less reasonable and rational you become in your judgement. Some of them sometimes descend as low as stage managing events to confuse and convince their victims. If you look hard enough, you will discover the fine details and pattern in most of these relationships. The bottom line is money! Many of these guys are not as comfortable as they present themselves to be.

They are seeking to add to their fortunes by exploring their manhood and manliness, and they know what we the women want. In most cases, money will exchange hands in the course of the relationships. The women will give off their money under the guise that they are helping to boost his business, or provide the platform for him to make more money. When he is done, he moves on to his next victim who is richer or better positioned to get him what he desires next. Thereby leaving a trail of emotionally traumatised and semi single women after them, each, clutching a child or two in their bosoms as gain for their investments.

I have come to the conclusion that all women are gullible when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex and at some point in our lives we exhibit this gullibility. How low a woman falls will however be determined by the circumstances surrounding the relationship. That is why even the best of ‘Stanford Wives’ will fall for their juniors, handymen, staff and helps. If this were not so, many of the women who fall for these type of guys would not even be seen in their company not to talk of having intimate relationships with them.

These are women with credible and tangible sources of livelihood and can hold their own even amongst men. But the truth is that every woman wants to be told that she is beautiful and an asset to a man. Every woman, no matter how highly placed, intelligent or rich, longs for a man and nest of her own. How they go about getting them is what defines them as virtuous women of integrity.

I am not against polygamy. For it is shrouded in hypocrisy in our Nigerian society. Each man to his own cross and God for us all. Let no man cast aspersions and stones at another. However, what is being practiced here is not polygamy but immorality that is debasing the virtues of family life and parenthood. What this lifestyle is creating is a chain of young women who are neither married nor single and are being forced to raise their children alone, (double wahala for deadi body ala Fela Anikulapo Kuti) while these men continue to enjoy their lives.

We women must learn to shine our eyes at all times, especially when guys come crawling with crazy distress SOS stories and a disjointed lifestyle.

After three years of marital life plagued with acute infidelity syndrome and a chain of failed joint ventures that gulped millions of Naira, including some she borrowed from her mother, Ope’s ‘fine boy’ hubby bolted with another woman leaving Ope in the love nest they shared with her two children.

She lost it when he reportedly told her to leave him alone and tend to her children like every normal woman he knows would do. He was said to have asked her to truly examine her life if indeed she lost anything from their brief relationship, rather than gain.

After all, he gave her marriage, a name and two children! Had he not taken pity on her, she would probably still be single and childless at 35! (Chai!!) To make mattersOpe recently found out that her ‘fine boy’ despite shacking up with another woman is still very much in touch with his first wife.

Ladies, please we need to learn not to believe all the sweet talk and pictures of guys traveling or chilling that they use to deceive us. When the chips are down, you will be all alone. Look well before anything.

Blasts kill 16 in Nigerian town

Multiple suicide bombings have killed at least 15 civilians and a soldier in Chibok in Nigeria's northeast.

Many wounded people suffered severe burns and are "battling for their lives" after Wednesday's attack, Dr Idrissa Danladi says.

He says 10 people were evacuated for better medical care but the town's small hospital is overwhelmed.

Residents blamed Boko Haram, the Islamic extremist group that kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls in Chibok in April 2014. Dozens escaped but 219 remain missing.

The 16 victims of Wednesday's blast were buried, said Pogu Bitrus, head of the Chibok Development Association.

He said six male and female suicide bombers entered the northeast Nigerian town on Wednesday, when people gather for the weekly vegetable market.

The first blast came when a man blew himself up at a military checkpoint. A soldier was injured and later died, Bitrus said.

That explosion raised the suspicions of the military commander. He rushed to the market to warn people to disperse but, as he arrived, a woman about to be searched blew herself up, Bitrus said.

Several people died and the commander was wounded.

LAGOS 'ASHAWOS' BEAT UP POLICEMAN WHO APPROACHED THEM

Two prostitutes who ply their trade in Lagos have been accused of beating up a policeman named Sergeant Usang, in the Apapa area of Lagos.

The commercial sex workers, identified as Dominca Paul, 22, and Chioma Aneka, committed the offence on Jan. 20 at New Road, Oshodi-Apapa.

The ladies, who live at the Ajegunle area of Apapa, were roaming the streets at about midnight when Sergeant Usang saw them and confronted them. But they could not provide any satisfactory answer when Usang asked them of their destination.

The police officer decided to take them to the station and that was when they attacked him and tore his uniform.

The prosecutor, Inspector Tony Elibeh said they assaulted Sergeant Usang while he performing his duty.

Dominica and Chioma, charged before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos yesterday, January 26, are facing a three-count charge of breach of peace, unlawful damage and assault.

They however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

They were granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum by Titus Abolarinwa, the Chief Magistrate.

He adjourned the case till February 24.

Amber Rose Responded To Kanye's Diss And She Didn't Hold Back At All

Amber Rose hit back hard after Kanye West dragged her into his epic Twitter feud with Wiz Khalifa.

Quick reminder: West and Rose dated for two years and it would be an understatement to say they are no longer on good terms. Much of this goes back to Rose calling West's now-wife Kim Kardashian a "homewrecker" in 2012, claiming the reality star was the reason for her split with the rapper.

While the two have traded barbs over the years, West's insults tend to focus on his ex's sexual history. Though his tweets could be considered a modern form of theater, he fell back on ugly habits and tried to insult Khalifa (from whom Rose filed for divorce after just over a year of marriage in 2014) by referring to their mutual ex as a "stripper" and insinuating she's a gold digger because the two have a son together.

Not one to stand down when she's been insulted, Rose didn't hold back when she clapped back:

Okay, so Rose's response definitely has a homophobic twinge to it -- which is equally as icky as West's slut-shaming tactics -- but we have to say the entire exchange is still one of the most entertaining things to happen in a long time.

Rituals Young boy's eyes plucked out by unknown men

Some unknown evil assailants suspected to be ritualists have plucked out the eyes of a young boy in Zaria, Kaduna State.

According to a concerned citizen, Musa Saqafa, the sight of the poor boy with blood dripping from the eye sockets brought tears to many who saw him.

Posting on his Facebook page, Saqafa who wrote in Hausa, said:

"Oh Allah, we are begging you in the name of your son, deliver us from those we know and those we do not know.

This little boy's eyes were plucked by people who are looking for wealth by all means and in the most atrocious way, in Zaria.

Do not allow them to have peace of mind in this world. Let them meet their doom like in the days of Prophets Shuaibu, Salihu and that of Nuhu.

May you also heal this boy, give him good health and guide him, Amen."

Zika virus: Outbreak 'likely to spread across Americas' says Who

The Zika virus is likely to spread across nearly all of the Americas, the World Health Organization has warned.
The infection, which causes symptoms including mild fever, conjunctivitis and headache, has already been found in 21 countries in the Caribbean, North and South America.
It has been linked to thousands of babies being born with underdeveloped brains and some countries have advised women not to get pregnant.
No treatment or vaccine is available.
The virus was first detected in 1947 in monkeys in Africa. There have since been small, short-lived outbreaks in people on the continent, parts of Asia and in the Pacific Islands.

But it has spread on a massive scale in the Americas, where transmission was first detected in Brazil in May 2015.

What is this world turning into?  It was Aids, then Ebola now it's Zika virus....

I think it's the handwork of the government, what do you think???

Lassa Fever :8 Things To Know About The Deadly Rat Which Transmits Lassa Fever

With the outbreak of the deadly Lassa fever across Nigeria, here are things to know about the virus and the deadly rat that transmits it.

1) Lassa fever is an acute viral illness that occurs in west Africa and is caused by the Lassa virus.

2) The Lassa virus, a member of the Arenavirus family of viruses is a single-stranded RNA virus and is zoonotic, or animal-borne.

3) The illness was discovered in 1969 when two missionary nurses died in Nigeria and the virus is named after the town in Nigeria where the first cases occurred.

4) In 1972, the Natal multimammate rat (aka Mastomys natalensis or the African rat) was found to be the natural host of the Lassa fever virus.

5) It is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. are the largest family of rodents and indeed of mammals, containing over 700 species found naturally throughout Eurasia, Africa, and Australia.

6) Mastomys natalensis is commonly known as the “multimammate rat” due to the female’s multiple and prominent mammary glands. These rats associate closely with humans, and are commonly found in and around African villages.

7) The virus is transmitted to humans from contacts with food or household items contaminated with rodent excreta. Person-to-person infections and laboratory transmission can also occur, particularly in the hospital environment in the absence of adequate infection control measures.

8) Prevention of Lassa fever relies on promoting good “community hygiene” to discourage rodents from entering homes. Effective measures include storing grain and other foodstuffs in rodent-proof containers, disposing of garbage far from the home, maintaining clean households and keeping cats.

I would urge all Family members to  be careful to avoid contact with blood and body fluids while caring for sick persons.

“The strike by staff of NAFDAC made it difficult for me to secure the necessary permit. I witnessed the search of the container in the presence of NDLEA officers and other security agencies at the port,” says Owulu

“I am a qualified pharmacist practicing in Asaba. However, I have not obtained the import and clearance permit for this shipment,” says Tochukwu.

Nollywood Actor Kenneth Okonkwo Sues President Buhari For Not Appointing Ministers From Abuja

Popular Nollywood actor cum Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo has dragged President Buhari to court.

In the lawsuit with file number FHC/ABJ/CS/34/16, Mr Okonkwo wants Buhari to appoint a FCT indigene as one of his 36 ministers.

This is what the actor told Diamond Magazine recently:

“On November 11th, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated 36 ministers from the 36 states of Nigeria without appointing an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory as Minister. This is unconstitutional and discriminatory and has led to tensions in the FCT as the indigenes are becoming restive. All efforts to get the President to appoint an indegene of the FCT failed hence the need for this suit to compel the President to do the needful and avert a possible break down of law and order with catastrophic consequences in the FCT.”

“I refused to enter and asked them what they were doing with the man but he brought out a gun and pointed it at me that if I don’t enter, he will kill me there.

“I was scared and that was how I entered. They collected my phone from me and drove into Abijo bush where they kept the man. We were inside the bush for two days, Agali will go out and buy food for us and the man.

“On the third day, he said the family was going to pay and he collected one million Naira from them and gave me N100, 000. They did not return my phone to me.

“I was arrested in my house while I was sleeping. Police said they tracked the number that was used to contact the businessman’s family and they found my address.

“I am not a kidnapper. I have never followed them for any operation. I have never robbed before. I am the only child of my father and we do not have money. I am the one who usually takes care of my father each time I return from my labouring job.

“Now, I do not know what will happen to him. I just wished that I could be killed instead of bringing this kind of embarrassment on my father,” said Allen.

Crazy World Zimbabwe woman bribes assassin with sex to murder police officer

A 27-year-old Zimbabwe woman, Siphathisiwe Ncube, has been arrested and charged to court for paying one Kumele Ncube, with sex to kill Constable Pushmore Gwasira, after the police officer collected his girlfriend’s stolen phone from her, reports Chronicle.

The officer barely managed to escape death after being axed on the forehead by Ncube, a court heard.

It was reported that Ncube and Siphathisiwe, both shopkeepers at the Madlambuzi Business Centre, appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze facing attempted murder charges where they both pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Msipa-Marondedze remanded them in custody till January 26 where the case would be heard.

The prosecutor, Concilia Ncube, told the court that on September 29, 2015, Gwasira who is stationed at ZRP Madlambuzi, visited his girlfriend who works at a liquor store.

“Gwasira’s girlfriend told him that Siphathisiwe was in possession of her stolen phone. He then approached Siphathisiwe and recovered the cellphone from her.

However, Siphathisiwe was not happy with the way the cellphone was taken from her and she then approached Ncube and told him that she had planned to kill Gwasira and recover back the cellphone.

Siphathisiwe then offered to have sex with Ncube for him to assist her to execute her plan.

The two had intercourse once in the hardware shop. Ncube then proceeded to the bottle store and called Gwasira to Siphathisiwe’s shop on the pretext that they wanted to talk over the issue of the phone.

Immediately upon entering the shop, Ncube closed the door, picked up a knobkerrie and struck Gwasira twice on both knees and he fell to the floor. Siphathisiwe then came with a small axe which she used to strike Gwasira twice on the forehead and he became unconscious.

Thinking they had killed the police officer, the suspects took some clothes and cleaned up the blood gushing out of Gwasira’s wound. They allegedly lifted Gwasira’s motionless body and dumped him beside a toilet.

Gwasira was later found lying in a pool of blood and was taken to hospital for treatment. The matter was reported to Madlambuzi and investigations were carried leading to the pair’s arrest," the prosecutor told the court.

The court heard that Ncube again demanded sex as token of appreciation and his wish was granted.

US ex-cop gets 263 years for raping women

A former Oklahoma City policeman convicted of raping four women and sexually assaulting several others while he was on duty has been sentenced to 263 years in prison, the maximum allowable sentence.

In December, an Oklahoma City jury found Daniel Holtzclaw, 29, guilty on 18 of 36 charges of sexual assault, including rape.

The sentence was given by District Judge Timothy Henderson and came after victims told the court on Thursday that the former officer had destroyed their lives.

Prosecutors said Holtzclaw preyed on women who had trouble with the law and forced them into sex, hoping their word would not hold up against his in court.

"I so desperately want my life back - the life I had before he took it away," Jannie Ligons, one of the victims of Holtzclaw, told the court in an impact statement.

The judge denied a defence motion filed a day earlier seeking a new trial.

Thirteen women testified against the former officer at his trial last year, describing encounters in which Holtzclaw forced his victims to perform sexual acts on him.

Holtzclaw sexually abused multiple women between December 2013 and June 2014, targeting victims from a poorer, mostly African-American area of Oklahoma City, prosecutors said.

Holtzclaw, who did not testify at his trial, was sacked over the accusations in January 2015 after approximately three years on the job.

  1. He broke down in tears when he was found guilty, telling jurors "I didn't do it," as he was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

Impersonator Fake medical doctor who had 7 certificates arrested

A man who had been practising as a medical doctor and worked as a consultant with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), for three years, has been nabbed by the police after it turned out that he was a fake doctor.

The man, Adesina Opeyemi, 43, had been working the whole time as a gynaecologist and consultant, treating patients before his cover was blown.

Opeyemi who resides at No. 1, Alowolodu Street, Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State, was arrested by the police at Alakara Police Division for impersonation and forgery after it was also discovered that he had in his possession, seven certificates which were equally fake.
It was gathered that Opeyemi met his waterloo following a petition received by the management of LUTH who invited the police to investigate the matter and at the end of the investigation carried out by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Alakara CSP Emmanuel Adebisi, the suspect was arrested when it turned out that he was not a qualified medial doctor.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (DPO), SP Dolapo Badmus, revealed that during investigations, seven forged certificates were recovered from Opeyemi, an indigene of Ekiti State and that he also confessed that he has been practicing as a medical doctor, specifically as a consultant and gynaecologist for the past three years before his arrest.

The suspect has confessed to forging the certificates including a fake MBBS certificate from the University of Ibadan, and a fake membership certificate of the Nigerian Medical Association, which he has been using to operate.

“I bought the certificates from Kolawole in Ibadan. That was three years ago. I bought them from him for N100,000. He printed the seven certificates.

I do not know where he stays. We did not meet in any specific location. We usually met at fast food joints or any agreed place. For instance, it was at Agodi Gate area that I gave him the money and got the certificates. I decided to use another name on the certificates.

I forged them because I dropped out of the university. I was actually studying Medicine. However, I dropped out in the 500 level due to financial reasons. I married my wife about five years ago. She thought I was a certified doctor. She actually came to me for treatment in the Ketu area and that was how we met. We have a child.

Three years ago, I decided to get the certificates just to cover up for the failure to finish my university education.

It is not true that I brought women to treat at home. The truth of the matter is that I have a laboratory and the women came there. I usually did tests for them and by the time the test results were out, I would ask them to visit a hospital for treatment.”

I would Never Be Caught Wearing Pant And Bra- Azeezat

Azeezat Allen is a talented singer who has consistently churned out romantic songs that seem to wow her fans, especially the romantic at heart. Apart from singing and publishing, Azeezat is also a director at Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the Assistant Coordinator of the Female Musicians Association of Nigeria (FEMAN), and the Managing Director of ‘The Way To Happiness’ a non-government organisation. She revealed to Naij.com, why she does what in the music industry among others.

How would you describe your style?

I appreciate simple things, but also the stylish things of life

What determines the clothes you wear?

For me, I always like to make a fashion statement because I enjoy people complimenting my looks. I like people to say “Oh! She has come”

What fashion apparel would you not want to be caught wearing and Why?

Pant and bra because I don’t think I am that crazy.

Your skin glows, do you do anything in particular to retain it?

I try to avoid unnatural things. Something as simple as palm oil is okay for me and Shea butter. I also break out with harsh cleansers.

What about your trim figure?

I believe I still fluctuate yet but I make sure I drink a lot of water. A lot of the thinking and hard work has kept me slim as well.

You promote Afro-eccentricity in your music, why?

I believe my music is a representation of who I am. I have western education, but I am African by birth. It is a blend of both that I exhibit.

What is your major inspiration?

I’m first and foremost a writer. I discovered my writing ability before I started singing; even if it doesn’t make sense to somebody, I devote more time to my writings.

Researchers find possible ninth planet

The solar system may host a ninth planet that is about 10 times bigger than earth and orbiting far beyond Neptune, according to new research.

Computer simulations show that the mystery planet, if it exists, would orbit about 20 times farther away from the sun than Earth, said astronomers with the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

So far, the planet has not been observed directly.

"It's a pretty substantial chunk of our solar system that's still out there to be found, which is pretty exciting," said astronomer Mike Brown, whose discovery was published in this week's Astronomical Journal.

Brown and astronomer Konstantin Batygin, also at Caltech, were initially sceptical that such a large planet would have eluded detection.

But they modelled the hypothetical planet's gravitational effects on several known bodies in the region and found a near-perfect match.

The computer model also predicted the location of other objects beyond Neptune, in a region known as the Kuiper Belt, and those were found in archived surveys as well.

At that point, "my jaw sort of hit the floor," Brown said in a statement.

Brown's earlier research helped to demote Pluto in 2006 as the solar system's ninth planet after other small, icy bodies were found beyond Neptune.

"All those people who are mad that Pluto is no longer a planet can be thrilled to know that there is a real planet out there still to be found," Brown said.

Man arrested for parading himself as a Colonel and defrauding victim of over N40m

62-year-old Babatunde Idris has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for parading himself as a colonel in the Nigerian Army and using a fake identity to defraud one Yinusa Mustapha of the sum of N40m.

The state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said Idris was arrested after a petition was filed against him.
He said:

“Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.”

Oyebade added that the suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation in 2012, but up till now that hasn’t been done.

He failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account.

The commissioner added:

“The suspect forged various letterheads of the Nigerian Army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance. He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel”.

The suspect said on the other hand said:

“I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man.
One of my brothers is a general in the army. One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it.

“Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed.”
