for fellow artist Iggy Azalea, during a newly-published interview
with Bijou Star TV. He informed those watching that Iggy has her
“own ideas and thoughts” and added that when an artist is in the
studio those present may assist with hooks or certain components of
a song.
“I mean, I ain’t no ghostwriter,” T.I. said. “Iggy got her own ideas
and thoughts that she presents to the world her own way. I couldn’t
write a lot of the shit she say, you know? I couldn’t put her thoughts
into words as articulate as she does. You know what I’m saying? She
just has a different way of presenting herself and her art. So, I
mean—Now don’t get me wrong, everybody in the studio helps with
hooks and certain things like that. That goes for me and any of the
other top five rappers, performers…You want the best ideas.”
Most recently, Iggy was featured on T.I.’s newly-released record,
“No Mediocre.” And during an interview earlier this month on Power
106’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the Grand Hustle helmsman recalled
observing the Australian rapper’s star potential early on in her
career.
"I knew that with the proper planning and execution the sky was the
limit for her," he said. "She has a killer instinct, kind of like a 'if
you like me or not I'm going to make it' so you can see it now or kick
yourself in the ass later. That's called star shit, that's superstar
shit.”
Prior to speaking on Iggy Azalea, T.I. commented on his evolution as
an artist. He revealed that growing as a person has in turn changed
him as an artist.
“Really, I just want to continue to evolve as an artist and re-
present myself,” the Southern wordsmith said. “Let people find new
things to learn and like about T.I...You gotta grow as a person. An
artist is just an extension of you as a person. So, as a person you
must grow. So, as an artist it’s inevitable.”
