Bring Back Our Girls: The Struggle Continues

The widely publicized kidnap of the over 200 girls in Chibok local government area in Borno state last year by terrorist group, Boko Haram, saw the emergence of of group named “Bring Back Our Girls Campaign Group”.

The group which has Nigeria’s former minister of education and former vice president (Africa region) of the world bank, Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili as one of its arrow head, has been meeting at the unity fountain in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital since it’s formation last year.


Although, the members of the group have significantly reduced since it began, some of the members have stayed through virtually all the group’s sessions in solidarity with the missing girls.

The group has not relented in its call for the government to expedite action on bringing back the girls as it’s daily meetings are always rounded up with a reminder for the government to do everything humanly possible to ensure the girls return home safely.

Unfortunately, the media coverage of the group’s meetings have waned considerably. Just like most Nigerians, the media seem to have moved on
