Michael Johns , who sang on season seven of “ American Idol ,” died
Friday at 35.
Though an official cause of death was not released, several news
outlets said he died of a blood clot after injuring his ankle.
Johns was voted off the show shortly after performing Aerosmith’s
“Dream On” in 2008, surprising viewers who considered him a
frontrunner.
In 2009, he released an album, “Hold Back My Heart,” and tweeted
in July that he was working on a new song called “Reckless.”
Born in Australia, Johns first came to the U.S. on a college tennis
scholarship and joined the band Film in Atlanta, later playing with
the Rising.
He is survived by his wife, interior designer Stacey Vuduris.
