China Pastor sentenced to one year in prison after protesting removal of cross

Huang Yizi an outspoken pastor, was sentenced to jail for
opposing Zhejiang province's intense campaign to remove
crosses from churches. Provincial authorities pulled down
400 crosses from the rooftop of churches, saying they
violated the building code.
Some sources say the Christian faith has been the target of
the ruling communist party, because of its rapid growth and
growing influence.
At press time, Zhang Kai-Huang Yizi’s lawyer via a
telephone conversation, told Associate Press(AP) that his
client was put on the stand for 6hours and the court of the
city of Pingyang found Huang guilty of gathering crowds
to disrupt social order. He was sentenced to one year in
prison.
Huang says he does not regret his action, while calling on
local church leaders should put back the toppled crosses.
